Wellness R&D

A health company may know what a device should do long before it knows who can make it. As an Associate Scientist at Renatus Wellness, I help translate that need into a conversation with manufacturers across India, China and Taiwan.

Technology & sourcing

Two routes to a sample

If a team already has a design, an OEM conversation can start with its drawings, materials and tolerances. With an ODM partner, the manufacturer contributes a design, so the first question is which features can be adapted.

Consider a handheld unit that will be used for several hours. Its weight, grip and power supply are concrete things to discuss when comparing samples. A reference photo alone leaves all three open.

Bring the question you have now

If you have a prototype, describe the part that still needs work. If you’re sourcing an existing device, describe where it will be used and what you need to change. Either is enough to start a conversation.

For a public example of how I integrate components from different makers, see the Purākaash telescope build.
